The Benefits of Macadamia Oil

We recently cooked up a batch of Darl Bars using macadamia oil instead of coconut oil and when we had a taste, it blew our cotton socks off! The smooth, buttery flavour was unlike anything we’d ever tasted. We’re so excited about this ingredient that we decided to share the benefits of macadamia oil with our darling readers.

Like Butter…But Better (if you can believe it)
Macadamia oil is the most similar oil to butter that we’ve ever tasted. It’s golden colour even looks like butter. It’s a perfect butter alternative for vegans and it even has a unique caramelly, nutty taste like no other oil.

Inexpensive Compared to Other Nut Oils
The process of extracting the oil is fairly simple, which means macadamia oil is usually cheaper than almond oil, avocado oil and even coconut oil. You're also supporting Aussie farmers when you use macadamia oil, which we know you all love to do!

Low in Saturated Fats & High in Vitamins & Antioxidants
Unlike coconut oil, macadamia oil is low in saturated fat and high in antioxidants. This makes it perfect for cooking, especially when combined with herbs and spices. High saturated fat oils react with the enzymes in spices like cinnamon and can turn them rancid. This won’t happen with good old maca oil. Instead, it will enhance the flavours of any herbs or spices you combine it with.

A Native, Sustainable Ingredient
Macadamias grow abundantly in northern NSW and QLD. They love the tropical climate (just like us) and don’t require huge amounts of water, chemicals or pesticides like almonds or peanuts, which aren’t suited to Australian conditions.

Perfect For Cooking
Unlike olive oil, macadamia oil has a high smoke point which means it's ideal for sautéing, frying or baking as it won't fill your kitchen with smoke or give your food a burnt, unpleasant flavour. 

The addition of macadamia oil into our Darl Bars has taken them to a new level of darliciousness and our customers agree. It’s safe to say that we are absolutely nutty over Macadamia Oil!
